The US has awarded a contract to Alion Science and Technology Corporation to upgrade the US Navy’s threat assessment information system, which is used to collect critical information about threat vulnerabilities.

Under the contract, the company will standardise the assessments and analyses done by the defence operations security personnel (OPSEC) and provide them with accurate data on force vulnerability while reducing the associated risk with the disclosure of such information.

Alion developed Operations Security Collaboration Architecture (OSCAR), a secure automated system used by OPSEC to collect, analyse and collaborate on critical information, vulnerabilities and threats, and to improve situational awareness. OSCAR helps OPSEC personnel in the selection of appropriate countermeasures to meet the risk-level expectations.

The $2.8m contract has been awarded by the Navy Information Operations Command under the Modeling and Simulation Information Analysis Center contract vehicle.
