The DCT is a 3D simulation game that simulates floods, fires and mass casualty exercises aboard a replicated DDG destroyer.
The simulator trains naval personnel on how to navigate a ship, follow communication protocols, enhance situational awareness and perform damage control operations.
The system uses gaming techniques for non-entertainment purposes and has been built using the Delta3D open source gaming engine.
DCT was recently deployed at two recruit barracks and will be introduced to the remaining barracks shortly to train around 40,000 recruits every year during their training through Battle Stations 21 (BS-21).
