The Russian Navy has suspended the Pacific aircraft fleet following a reconnaissance plane crash off Sakhalin Island, which has left 11 crew missing.

The Tu-142M3 Bear F, a Russian maritime reconnaissance / anti-submarine warfare (ASW) turboprop aircraft, crashed in the Tatar Strait in Russia’s Far East during a combat training mission.

The wreckage was found in 144ft of water offshore by several ships and planes.

All navy flights have been grounded until the investigation to recover the aircraft’s black box is complete. The search for the missing crew is ongoing.
