The Israeli Navy has seized a container ship carrying hundreds of tons of weapons from Iran bound for Lebanon’s Hezbollah group, Israeli officials said.

Israeli naval forces took Francop, a 137m-long container ship to the Israeli port of Ashdod, where weapons were found behind civilian goods in about 40 shipping containers.

The containers were picked up by the Francop in the Egyptian port of Damietta and were to have reached Hezbollah in Lebanon via Syria, according to Yahoo News.

Syria and Iran have denied the allegations.
