The US Navy has received a mk104 dual-thrust rocket motor (DTRM) from Aerojet for the surface-to-air defence RTN Standard missile 2 (SM-2).

The mk104 DTRM provides propulsion for the SM-2 missile, an integral part of the Aegis weapon system used aboard Ticonderoga Class cruisers and Arleigh Burke Class destroyers.

The DTRM is also used as second-stage propulsion for the SM-3, for ballistic missile defence missions and for the latest extended-range active missile (SM-6) anti-air land and sea missile.

The recent delivery marks the 5,000th mk104 DTRM shipment to the US Navy from Aerojet.
