As per the contract received from the US Navy, the company will produce valve-regulated lead acid (VRLA) submarine batteries using its proprietary thin plate pure lead (TPPL) technology.
The submarine batteries for the US Navy will be manufactured at the company’s facility in Warrensburg, Missouri.
The VRLA battery is spill and leak proof and facilitates an oxygen recombination cycle which eliminates the need to add water throughout the battery’s life and improves the safety of operation.
The VRLA battery also contains a self-releasing pressure relief valve that prevents entry of outside air into the cell thereby extending the battery’s shelf life.
The company also recently received contracts from Europe to supply batteries for both nuclear and diesel electric submarines.
