Swedish Tactical ascender solutions provider ActSafe has introduced its latest T1-16 tactical assault ascender (TAA), an ideal tool for naval ship boarding and platform operations, at the Defence Systems & Equipment International 2009 show in London.

The T1-16 TAA is a unique watertight power ascender that is used to ascend or descend a rope. Allowing teams to board a structure without using manual ascenders or climbing ladders.

T1-16 has a fully integrated battery system connected directly to the ascender, which allows the user to move at full speed for 230m continuously with a load of 120kg. The battery recharges in 30 minutes and lasts for about 1,000ft a charge.

The waterproof unit weighs 15kg can be operated underwater and runs up a dry or wet 10mm-13mm rope with a twist of the motorcycle throttle-like control at 6ft a second.
