Danish computer software company Systematic has demonstrated the application of its new situational awareness and reporting tool for naval ships in counter-piracy operations at the Defence Systems & Equipment International 2009 show in London.

The SitaWare maritime boarding tool is an unique backpack-based system that is designed to provide maximum tactical awareness through a real-time overview of the waterspace and by ensuirng connectivity between both the boarding party and the command vessel.

The system underwent test and evaluation onboard the Royal Danish Navy's flexible support ship HDMS Absalon.

With the solution pictures of the cargo, crew and log books or other documents can be sent electronically to the mother ship to be scrutinised from the boarding team while inspecting a vessel. Fingerprints can also be compared instantly against a global database to aid the search of wanted persons.
