The US Navy has awarded a $1bn contract to coastal and civil engineering services provider Moffatt & Nichol to provide design support services for several waterfront / marine projects.

The projects are overlaid by the Defense Policy Review Initiative and the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC).

Under the contract, the company will provide project engineering documentation, design-bid-build-request-for-proposal contract documents, technical reports, construction cost estimates, consultation and geotechnical investigations, required for design, analysis and studies.

In addition, the company will provide post-construction award services, construction surveillance and inspection services, operational and maintenance support information services.

Work will be carried out in the NAVFAC Pacific and is expected to be complete by August 2014.

The contract has been awarded by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Pacific, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
