The US Navy has awarded a $29.1m contract to ITT Corporation for AN/SPS-48G (V) radar modification kits to used to enhance launch capabilities on navy ships.

The AN/SPS-48 is a US Naval three-dimensional air search radar system that will enhance missile guidance for anti-aircraft warfare capable ships.

Under the contract, the company will provide modification kits that are expected to increase operational availability and reduce operating costs.

Work will be carried out in California and is expected to be complete by August 2011.
