The US Navy has awarded a $76.3m contract to aerospace manufacturer McDonnell Douglas Corporation, a subsidiary of Boeing for the procurement of ancillary equipment for naval aircraft.

Under the contract, the company will procure the equipment for the navy’s F/A-18E Super Hornet single-seat variant, F/A-18F Super Hornet two-seat variant and EA-18G Growler, the electronic warfare version of F/A-18F.
The major work will be carried out in Arizona and the rest in Missouri, Minnesota as well as California, and it is expected to be complete by August 2013.
The contract has been awarded by the Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Maryland.
