A joint Naval exercise will be conducted by the Israeli, US and Turkish Navies in mid August 2009.

Exercise Reliant Mermaid X, which is being hosted by the Turkish Navy, will take place in the eastern Mediterranean Sea.

During the naval exercise, the three navies will work to improve their interoperability and will practice naval rescue missions.

In addition, the exercise will include search and rescue simulations, quick response to naval emergencies, humanitarian aid in real time and evacuation of wounded personnel from the waters.

A total of eight ships, four helicopters and three search and rescue aircraft from the three countries will participate in Reliant Mermaid X.
