The US Navy has awarded a $15.2m contract to security services company Basic Contracting Services to provide armed security guard services for the navy’s major munitions handling facility, Naval Magazine Indian Island.

Under the contract, the company will provide security services including armed entry control point security, fixed-post security, roving land patrols and harbour patrols for the entire facility.
Work will be carried out at Port Hadlock in Washington and is expected to be complete by September 2014.
The contract, procured via an online competition that received ten proposals, was awarded by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Northwest, Silverdale, Washington.
