The US Navy has awarded a contract to construction management company Barnhart for design and construction of a Special Operations Forces combat crew training facility at Naval Base Coronado in California.

Under the $8.7m contract the company will construct a two-story building and a boat maintenance and storage area at the 57,000-acre base.

Construction is expected to be complete by December 2010.

The contract has been awarded by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command Southwest, San Diego, California.
