The Italian Navy has equipped its new aircraft carrier Conte di Cavour with the Thales tactical air navigation (TACAN) navigation system.

TACAN is a short and medium-distance navigation radio aid system for military aircraft that ensures secured helicopter and aircraft landing operations even in adverse conditions.

The integrated system also includes the newest environmental and optical interfacing requirements of the Italian Navy.
