The Royal Navy has awarded a contract to defence electronics supplier Thales UK to continue engineering support to the navy’s submarine fleet.

Under the three-year contract, the company will continue engineering support for the submarine fleet’s Ultra High Frequency (UHF) satellite communication system on a worldwide, 24/7 availability basis.

To support the work, specialised engineering and communication facilities have been established at the firm’s Somerset site.

The company’s Special Acoustic and Communication Products group has been providing support to submarine fleet’s UHF satellite communication system for the last six years.
