General Dynamics to Repair US Submarine

General Dynamics Electric Boat will execute $15.8m of repair work on a Los Angeles Class attack submarine that was damaged in a collision with the navy amphibious ship USS New Orleans in the Strait of Hormuz. Under this contract, General Dynamics will plan work, material procurement and

General Dynamics Electric Boat will execute $15.8m of repair work on a Los Angeles Class attack submarine that was damaged in a collision with the navy amphibious ship USS New Orleans in the Strait of Hormuz.

Under this contract, General Dynamics will plan work, material procurement and manufacture of a hull patch and a bridge access trunk for the damaged USS Hartford (SSN-768).

It will also carry out planning and material procurement for the port retractable bow plane of the submarine.

The repair work is expected to be complete by 31 October 2009.
