US ship Ronald Reagan carrier strike group (CSG) 7 based in San Diego will be deployed in the Western Pacific on a regular basis to support the country’s maritime strategy and enhance combat power.

This deployment will be the fourth for the flagship CSG 7 and the ninth of ten Nimitz Class nuclear-powered aircraft carriers USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76).

In addition, carrier air wing (CVW) 14, USS Chancellorsville (CG 62), and the ships of Commander, Destroyer Squadron (COMDESRON) 7 are also included in the CSG 7 deployment.

The COMDESRON includes USS Decatur (DDG 73), USS Howard (DDG 83), USS Gridley (DDG 101) and USS Thach (FFG 43).

The carrier will also include a part of explosive ordnance disposal mobile unit (EODMU) 11 to boost up its auxiliary.

The last deployment of CSG 7 performed humanitarian assistance mission, supported the armed forces of the Philippines, and provided more than 519,000lb of food supplies to Typhoon Fengshen victims.
