Allied naval units have begun a comprehensive maritime exercise in the UK’s coastal waters to improve interoperability in future assignments.

Germany, Turkey, the Netherlands, Greece, France, Italy and Denmark are participating in the joint warrior (JW) exercise alongside US forces and planned by the UK’s joint tactical exercise planning staff.

The JW exercise aims to provide a robust training atmosphere against new and emerging threats by educating soldiers in how their partnering nations operate.

It also involves innovative fleet irregular warfare training, focusing on non-traditional warfare areas such as counter-piracy and theatre security.
