General Dynamics (GD) has received a contract from the US Navy to support its submarine repair work.

Under the $23m order, company subsidiary General Dynamics Electric Boat will support maintenance activities on USS Newport News (SSN-750) and USS West Virginia (SSBN-736) vessels.

Work under the contract is expected to be complete by September 2012.

GD won the contract as part of a basic ordering agreement awarded to Electric Boat in September 2010 to support navy submarine repair work.
