The US Navy has delivered the fourth and sixth patrol boats, P-304 and P-306, to the Iraqi Navy following the successful completion of underway demonstrations.

Equipped with a 30mm gun weapon system, the patrol boats are capable of achieving 30kt and can accommodate a crew of 25.

Navy programme manager for PMS 325 Frank McCarthey said, “The patrol boat demonstrations went very well and ensured a smooth transition of custody to our Iraqi customer.

“With five ships of this class now delivered to the Iraqi navy, we can continue to study lessons learned to ensure future deliveries are equally as successful,” he added.

The Iraqi navy is planning to procure around 15 35m armoured patrol vessels from the US Navy.
