Taiwan has showcased a model of its new Hsiung Feng III supersonic cruise missile after China carried out the maiden voyage of its lone aircraft carrier.

The ‘carrier killer’ supersonic missile was shown “in a context that prominently identified its intended target,” Brahmand reports.

Although the cruise missile has been displayed previously, this was the first time the HF-III had been described as ‘carrier killer’.

The ramjet-powered anti-ship missile with a single warhead, which can be launched from land and surface platforms, can cruise at a maximum speed of Mach 2 and has a range of up to 130km.
