Northstar Network has been awarded an additional contract from L-3 MAPPS to support the Canadian Halifax Class, Frigate Upgrade Programme.

Under the new contract, which is part of L-3's integrated platform management system, the company will provide additional control panels for use in landing craft deck areas as well as other machinery control facilities.

The 12 Canadian-built Halifax class multirole patrol frigates are currently undergoing a planned mid-life modernisation, primarily for the combat systems.

As part of the modernisation, the frigates will receive a new command and control system, new radar capability, a new electronic warfare system and upgraded communications and missiles.

The company also expects to receive new contracts for work on equipment connection installations related with the supply of control consoles throughout the ship.
