BAE Systems Land & Armaments has been awarded a cost-plus-fixed-fee task order to upgrade two mk45 mod 2 gun mounts for the US Navy.

Under the $15.6m contract modification, the company will upgrade the two mk45 mod 2 gun mounts to mod 4 configuration.

The 127mm 62-calibre mk45 mod 4 naval gun system, used by the US Navy, significantly enhances naval surface fire support (NSFS) and overall mission performance.

Work will be carried out at the company’s facilities in Kentucky and Minnesota, US, and is expected be completed by May 2014.
