The Royal Thai Navy is set to receive two MH-60S Sierra Seahawk helicopters from Sikorsky, marking the first delivery of the helicopter to an international customer.

The multimission aircraft, being acquired under the US foreign military sales (FMS) programme route, is part of the Thai Navy fleet modernisation programme.

The Thai MH-60S helicopter has been designed to carry out utility missions, such as logistics and troop transport as well to performing search and rescue missions.

Through its modernisation programme, the navy expects to increase the capabilities of six Sikorsky S-70B Seahawk and six marine S-76B helicopters that were acquired in the late 1990s.
