General Dynamics (GD) Land Systems has been awarded a contract by the US Marine Corps (USMC) Systems Command to upgrade the RG-31 Mk5E mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) vehicles.

Under the $41.6m contract modification, GD will install the upgrade kits for RG-31 Mk5E MRAP vehicles.

The upgrade kits will enhance the survivability and operation of RG-31 vehicles configured to the latest production configuration under a previous contract.

Work will take place at the MRAP sustainment facility in Kuwait from this month and will be complete by October 2012.
