The Bangladeshi Navy has purchased two modern Do 228NG (new generation) turboprop aircraft from Ruag Aviation for carrying out maritime air patrol and rescue missions.

The two fixed-wing Do 228NG aircraft are equipped with special equipment for maritime air patrol operations including radio and navigation aid, other selected systems and rescue equipment.

The company will also provide comprehensive pilot and aircraft maintenance training for the naval ground crew.

The Do 228NG is a modernised and improved version of the Dornier 228-212, which is used ideally in detecting oil slicks, controlling borders and fishing, and carrying out environmental research.

Delivery of the aircraft is scheduled for mid 2013.
