Kollmorgen has been awarded a not-to-exceed undefinitised contract action for the fiscal 2011 mk20 mod 0 electro-optical sensor system units for the US Navy and Australia under the foreign military sales programme.

The $23.5m contract was awarded by the US Naval Sea Systems Command under a previously awarded firm-fixed price, cost-plus-fixed fee, cost-only contract.

Under the contract, the company will also provide associated equipment, services and emergent provision item orders for spares requirements and level-of-effort engineering services.

The mk20 electro-optical sensor system is a check sight and targeting sensor used in anti-surface and anti-air warfare, and naval gun fire support missions, as well as for ship self defence and situational awareness functions.

Work will be carried out at the company’s facilities in Massachusetts and Vermont, US and is slated to complete by November 2013.
