PNS Alamgir, commissioned on 31 August 2010, is the former USS McInerney belonging to the Oliver Hazard Perry Class frigates.
The frigate will strengthen maritime security operations capacity in the Arabian Sea in addition to supporting the navy surface fleet.
The navy has also commissioned two indigenously built small tanker-cum-utility ships (STUS), Madadgar and Rasadgar, to increase logistic support.
Built by Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KS&EW), the craft have been designed and equipped with reliable modern machinery and equipment.
