The UK Royal Navy has decommissioned the last of the Type 22 frigates, HMS Cornwall, at Devonport Naval Base, UK.

The ship, known as the Fighting 99, has served for 23 years and has circumnavigated the globe, participated in Cold War operations, and performed counter-piracy duties in the east of Suez.

The 148.1m-long frigate had a displacement capacity of 5,300t and a maximum cruising speed of 30kt.

The frigate was decommissioned under the UK MoD’s Strategic Defence and Security Review 2010.
