Kongsberg has conducted the first ever live-fire with the naval strike missile (NSM) to test the missile’s precision strike capability against land targets.
The missile was launched from a land-based mobile vehicle platform, part of the Polish Navy Coastal Squadron, which hit the specified land target.
The NSM is the only fifth-generation long-range precision strike missile featuring low observable shape, and I3R seeker with autonomous target recognition (ATR) for programmable hit-point and optimised fuse-setting.
The Norwegian Navy has plans to equip the NSM on its Fridtjof Nansen Class frigates and Skjold Class coastal corvettes.
