Developed following the US joint tactical radio system (JTRS) programme’s enterprise business model (EBM), the AN/PRC-117G radio delivers real-time information to combatants on the move, and allows streaming video and collaborative chat.
The radios procured under $5m order can also be mounted into the AN/VRC-114 50W vehicular amplifier adapters, also acquired by the marines as part of the procurement.
Harris RF Communications Department of Defense business president Brendan O’Connell said the system was capable of establishing tactical networks to pass chat, e-mail, ISR feeds and biometrics.
Other Falcon III AN/PRC-117G customers include the US Department of Defense, UK, Canada, Germany, Australia and other Nato countries.
