The Indian Navy will receive its first anti-submarine warfare (ASW) corvette, the INS Kamorta, in June 2012, Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) shipyard chairman and managing director KC Sekhar has said.

The 109.1m-long, 2,500t corvette has a maximum cruising speed of 32kt and is armed with stealth-mounted guns as well as the latest electronic warfare suite.
The helicopter deck of the ASW corvettes will be fitted with a fully automated indigenous common helicopter traversing system.
The Hindu reported Sekhar as saying that the construction of the ASW vessels was on schedule, and that the second vessel in the series would be launched in September.
The shipyard is also building the Car Nicobar Class fast attack craft (FAC) for the nvy and eight inshore patrol vessels for the coastguard, while it is currently competing for a contract for the construction of seven stealth frigates.
