William P. Lawrence, designated as DDG 110, will perform a variety of operations, from peacetime presence and crisis management to sea control and power projection.
The 509ft-long 9,200t ship, built by Huntington Ingalls Industries, is powered by four gas turbine engines to cruise at a speed of 30kts.
The destroyer will be capable of conducting air, surface and subsurface battles simultaneously and will be equipped with offensive and defensive weapons to support maritime warfare.
