According to Shephard, MEOS II systems could be purchased for deployment on navy vessels later this year.
The MEOS II will be operated alongside Rheinmetall Defence’s in-service multisensor platform (MSP) 500 and MLG 27 light naval gun system.
MEOS II comprises a thermal imager, day sight CCD zoom camera and laser rangefinder that is capable of identifying targets at distances as far as 60km.
Details regarding the number of systems and the navy vessels have not been disclosed.
