Teledyne Brown Engineering has been awarded a contract by Northrop Grumman Corporation to manufacture four littoral combat ship (LCS) gun mission modules (GMM) for the US Navy.

Under the contract, the company will manufacture each of the modules, integrate and then perform testing.

Each module will be equipped with a 30mm gun weapon system and two modules will be mounted on each LCS that will be integrated with a gun turret.

The company will then carry out complete system validation and perform factory acceptance testing.

The gun mission module is a modular weapon system that replaces a traditional fixed weapon system to form an integral part of the LCS, which will be used for counter-piracy, maritime interdiction and security missions.

Work will be carried out at the company’s manufacturing facility in Huntsville, US.
