Designated DDG 112, Michael Murphy is the 62nd Arleigh Burke Class destroyer that is being developed to conduct a variety of operations, from peacetime presence and crisis management to sea control and power projection.
The 509ft-long, 9,200t ship is powered by four gas turbine engines and can cruise at a speed of 30kt and will be capable of simultaneously performing air, surface and subsurface missions.
The ship will enter service with a crew of 279 officers and enlisted personnel, and will be equipped with offensive and defensive weapons designed to support maritime warfare.
