Raytheon has delivered the first Standard missile-6 (SM-6) production round to the US Navy that will provide protection against the full spectrum of air threats.

SM-6 incorporates the advanced signal processing and guidance control capabilities of the advanced medium-range air-to-air missile (AMRAAM).

Raytheon Air and Missile Defense Systems vice-president Frank Wyatt said the missile combined the reliability of time-tested systems with the latest missile technology.

“This missile can use both active and semi-active modes, giving the warfighter an enhanced ability to reach remote targets,” he added.
