The Pakistani Navy will soon receive the PNS Alamgir frigate, which has completed several months of refurbishment and personnel training.

Pakistan formally acquired the Oliver Hazard Perry class frigate, USS McInerney (FFG-8) under the US Department of Defence excess defence articles programme on 31 August 2010.

PNS Alamgir has undergone a $58.7m dry docking and pier-side refurbishment at BAE Southeast Shipyards, and an additional $6.5m has been spent on specialised training on the ship’s engineering, navigation and combat systems.

The frigate is equipped with anti-ship missiles, a 76mm naval gun, torpedo launchers and can also carry two SH-60 Seahawk multipurpose helicopters.
