Swiftships to Construct Patrol Boats for Iraqi Navy

Swiftships Shipbuilders has been awarded a modification contract for the detail design and construction of three 35m patrol boats and associated technical services for the Iraqi Navy. The $42.1m contract is a modification to a previously awarded foreign military sales (FMS) contract.

Swiftships Shipbuilders has been awarded a modification contract for the detail design and construction of three 35m patrol boats and associated technical services for the Iraqi Navy.

The $42.1m contract is a modification to a previously awarded foreign military sales (FMS) contract.

The contract modification includes options for three additional 35m patrol boats which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of the contract to $83.4m.

Work will be carried out at the company's facilities in Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi and Virginia, US, and is expected to be completed by August 2012.

The US Naval Sea Systems Command will be the contracting activity.
