PT Palindo Marine Industry (PMI), the Indonesian National ship-building company, has produced the KRI Clurit-641 warship, which will soon strengthen the Indonesian Navy fleet, Defence Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro has said.

The 44m-long KRI Celurit-641 engine, built with the help of Surabaya Institute of Technology, powers a five-blade propulsion propeller and can cruise at a speed of 30kt, according to the Ankara News Agency.

The ship is equipped with a sensor weapon control (sewaco) system, six 30mm cannons forming a close-in weapon system (CIWS), missiles and is capable of firing C-705 guided missiles over a distance of several hundred metres.

Indonesian Navy Western Fleet commander Rear Admiral Marsatio said the ship featured technological devices comparable to those used on foreign warships.
