ITT Corp has been awarded a contract to manufacture and deliver six full-rate production lot 8 AN/ALQ-214(V)3 onboard jammer systems for installation on the US Navy F/A-18E/F aircraft.

The AN/AQ-214 onboard jammer is an important subsystem of the integrated defensive electronic countermeasures (IDECM) radio frequency countermeasures (RFCM) programme.

The IDEMC RFCM system is a radio frequency (RF) self-protection electronic countermeasures suite that enhances survivability of the naval combat aircraft against RF guided surface-to-air and air-to-air missiles.

Work on the $14.8m, firm-fixed-price contract will be performed at the company’s facility in New Jersey, US and is expected to be completed in November 2013.

The US Naval Air Systems Command will be the contracting activity.
