Navantia has delivered the F-314 Thor Heyerdahl frigate to the Royal Norwegian Navy at the Fene-Ferrol shipyard, Spain.

Thor Heyerdahl is the last of a series of five F-310 Class frigates ordered by the Royal Norwegian Navy in June 2000.

The 133.25m-long F-314 frigate has a full load displacement capacity of 5,130t and can cruise at a speed of over 26kt.

The new frigates are equipped with the American AEGIS combat system and are expected to replace the old Oslo Class ships.

The Norwegian Navy will use the frigates to perform anti-submarine warfare missions, air defence operations and anti-surface missions.
