The US Department of Defense has awarded a contract to Maritime Security Strategies (MSS) for a Coastal Security Craft (CSC) for the Lebanese Navy to help maintain its maritime security.

The $29m contract will be executed under the Foreign Military Sales Program, and the company will work with RiverHawk to design, produce and outfit the ship.

The 43m-long vessels will improve Lebanon’s ability to monitor and patrol its territorial waters, and to contribute to international maritime security efforts in the eastern Mediterranean.

The new vessel is based on the Advanced Multi-mission Platform (AMP) design and is scheduled for delivery by the end of 2011.
