The Chinese Government has, for the first time, officially revealed the details of its first aircraft carrier.

According to the State Oceanic Administration report, China’s first indigenous aircraft carrier will be ready in 2014 and will be launched in 2015, a year ahead of schedule.

The aircraft carrier plan, viewed as China’s historic task for the entire 21st century, was approved last year, according to the report.

By 2020, China plans to have a huge carrier fleet on top of its 27 destroyers, 52 frigates and 66 submarines.

The aircraft carriers will challenge theh US’s naval supremacy in the Pacific, according to the Daily Mail.
