France has agreed to transfer warship technology to Russia and hopes to complete a deal to sell two Mistral helicopter carriers, French Prime Minister François Fillon has said.

“We see no problem in transferring technology,” he said at a joint news conference with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.

Russia and France have been negotiating on a “2+2” scheme, wherein Russia will buy two French Mistral Class amphibious assault ships and build another two at home.

Russia’s United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) and France’s shipbuilder DCNS, the likely winner of the deal, have recently signed an agreement to form a consortium, according to RIA Novosti.
