The 262ft-long Yavire has a displacement capacity of 1,453t, can cruise at a speed of 22kt and can perform a variety of missions including surveillance and coastal zone protection, surface protection and passive electronic warfare.
Missions include maritime traffic protection, fire fighting, pollution control and cleanup, transportation of personnel and supplies, search and rescue operations, rapid intervention, and diver support.
Venezuela has also ordered four ocean-going offshore patrol vessels from Navantia, according to United Press Trust.
