Under the estimated $33m foreign military sale, Japan will also receive 13 AN/DKT-71A Telemeters, conversion kits, containers, spare and repair parts, support equipment, and other related logistics support.
The missiles will be used on the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force fleet to provide enhanced capabilities in defence of critical sea-lanes of communication.
Japan has SM-2 Block IIIB missiles integrated into its ship combat systems and two intermediate-level depots capable of maintaining and supporting the missile.
Raytheon Missiles Systems will be the prime contractors.
