Sagem has signed a contract with French shipbuilder DCNS for the development and production of air-surface detection systems to be installed on Brazil’s four new-generation submarines.

Under the terms of the agreement, Sagem will supply three assemblies that include a multisensor tracking optronics mast, attack periscope system and compact submarine navigation radar mast for each ship.

The systems also feature advanced technologies that include an integrated digital imaging system, high-resolution panoramic display and user-friendly operation from multifunction combat system consoles.

The new-generation, non-penetrating masts and periscopes can easily integrate additional sensors, whether optronic or electronic support measures (ESM), are designed to enable navies to carry out their own advanced maintenance.
