Fincantieri has signed a technical collaboration agreement with Enra Energy Solutions (EES) to support the Royal Malaysian Navy’s “15 to 5” strategic fleet renewal initiative.

This partnership is set to enhance Malaysia’s naval capabilities and stimulate national industrial participation.

The collaboration will focus on the development and support of advanced naval platforms, including the multi role support ships and the third batch of littoral mission ships (LMSs).

The LMSs are capable of performing an array of duties such as anti-surface warfare, anti-air warfare, asymmetric warfare, and electronic warfare.

Featuring sensors, weapons suites, and command and control systems, the LMSs will include control radar, combat management systems from Havelsan, 3D search radar, fire IFF, 30mm gun, electronic support measures, and more.

These vessels are intended to enhance the Royal Malaysian Navy’s operational effectiveness in response to shifting regional security challenges.

Under the terms of the agreement, EES is expected to play a central role in reinforcing Malaysia’s domestic maritime defence infrastructure.

Fincantieri chairman Biagio Mazzotta said: “Southeast Asia represents a key geography for the future of the maritime defence industry.

“Our collaboration with Enra Energy Solutions in Malaysia is a concrete step in building a robust industrial partnership that combines global experience with local excellence. We are proud to contribute to the Royal Malaysian Navy’s strategic vision and to support the development of a resilient local defence ecosystem.”

Fincantieri’s engagement in Malaysia forms part of a wider strategy to establish enduring industrial ties in key regions.

Recently, construction commenced on three LMS Batch-2 corvettes for the Royal Malaysian Navy in April 2025. These vessels are being built in Türkiye, with delivery anticipated by 2027.
